This role shapes the technical direction of Xero's Front End Platform, partnering across engineering, product and design to deliver shared tools, systems and standards. It sits in the Front End Platform team, which builds and maintains component libraries, design systems and developer tooling used by product engineering teams.

- Build deep relationships across engineering, product and design
- Break down silos between teams
- Help teams reach the best outcome regardless of level or title
- Guide technical design
- Identify technical gaps holding teams back
- Champion modern front end practices
- Coach engineers toward their next level
- Lead the technical direction of Xero's front end
- Guide a modern front end stack (React, TypeScript, associated tooling) across multiple teams
- Influence CI/CD and delivery pipeline improvements at a platform level
- Shape the longer term roadmap for front end performance, accessibility and developer experience
- Leverage Harness Engineering to modernise legacy front end pages and components
What we're looking for
- Deep expertise in front end engineering, able to pick up new languages and tools
- Proven experience and genuine interest in large scale shared platforms and developer experience
- Solid grounding in CI/CD concepts, automated testing and TDD
- Skilled at designing secure, scalable and maintainable systems, including distributed architectures
- Track record of influencing roadmaps and technical direction across multiple teams
- Comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on problem solving
- Experience coaching and mentoring engineers toward senior roles
- Collaborative approach to disagreement, working through different viewpoints
- Track record of using AI tools and principles to work more efficiently
