Wise is hiring a Senior Android Engineer for its Design Systems team, part of Mobile engineering. The team builds and maintains the foundations, components and tooling used across Wise's web and app products, ensuring consistency, accessibility and performance.
What you'll do
- Participate in or lead engineers through the full feature lifecycle, from discovery to maintenance
- Troubleshoot, fix and support other product teams with related problems
- Represent and champion Design Systems initiatives to technical and non-technical audiences
- Collaborate across teams to deliver experiences for Design Systems' internal and external consumers
- Support new engineers ramping up on the Design System, tooling and best practices
What we're looking for
- Deep expertise building reusable UI components and tooling with Compose
- Integrate theme architecture, managing design tokens globally
- Build clean, intuitive, flexible APIs for other developers
- Experience with visual regression testing and optimising UI performance
- Appetite for building delightful user experiences
- High attention to detail
- Hands-on experience building accessible, inclusive interfaces using usability testing tools
- Ability to explore, discuss, evaluate and communicate complex technical problems
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and solve problems independently
- Eagerness to learn, share knowledge and contribute to documentation and RFCs
Nice to have
- Contributed to and helped grow design systems or pattern libraries
- Exposure to authoring tooling and automation
- Comfortable navigating Figma or similar design tools
