Staff Frontend Engineer for Verkada's core engineering group, focused on Design Systems and UI architecture. Owns the foundational component library powering enterprise applications, partnering with 8+ product teams to deliver a cohesive web experience.
What you'll do
- Develop and scale the centralised, React-based component library
- Translate design visions and Figma tokens into interactive web components
- Support, collaborate with, and mentor engineers across 8+ product teams
- Advocate for and implement accessibility standards (WCAG) across shared components
- Write automated tests (unit, visual regression) for components
- Optimise UI rendering performance for complex single-page applications
- Maintain documentation and usage guidelines via Storybook
- Ensure the design system integrates into the microfrontend architecture
- Contribute to core frontend tooling and infrastructure as needed
What we're looking for
- 4+ years front-end web development experience with UI/UX focus
- Expertise in React, TypeScript, and modern styling solutions
- Track record building or contributing to design systems or component libraries
- Experience with component-driven development and Storybook
- Strong knowledge of web accessibility standards (ARIA, WCAG)
- Experience collaborating with designers on design tokens, typography, layout systems
- Degree in Computer Science, HCI, or similar technical/design field
