Vanta is hiring a Staff Visual Product Designer for its Design Systems team, which builds the visual and interaction foundations enabling coherent, accessible product experiences. The role shapes Vanta's visual language, evolves scalable design system patterns, and partners across design and engineering to support complex compliance workflows.
What you'll do
- Define and evolve Vanta's visual design language across product surfaces
- Set a high bar for visual craft across typography, colour, layout, iconography, illustration, motion, data visualisation
- Partner with Design Systems, Product, Engineering, Research, Content Design and Brand teams
- Own and evolve foundational design system elements including tokens, component states, theming, density
- Create reusable patterns and guidance for product teams
- Design and prototype system components and end-to-end product experiences
- Bring visual clarity and hierarchy to complex, data-rich workflows
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure fidelity, accessibility, performance and maintainability
- Establish principles, standards and review practices for design quality
- Advocate for inclusive and accessible visual design
- Help define how the design system supports emerging needs like AI and personalisation
- Use customer insights, product data and research to identify system improvements
- Facilitate critiques, workshops and cross-functional reviews
- Influence product strategy and roadmap through design perspectives and prototypes
- Mentor product designers and contribute to a culture of critique and learning
- Create documentation and enablement materials for the design system
- Define and measure design system impact through adoption, consistency, accessibility metrics
- Represent Design Systems in planning processes and product reviews
- Contribute to the broader design organisation by sharing best practices
What we're looking for
- 8+ years designing digital products, including complex B2B SaaS or enterprise software
- Deep expertise in visual design including typography, colour, layout, iconography, motion, data visualisation
- Strong portfolio demonstrating visual craft and systems thinking
- Experience creating, evolving and scaling product design systems across teams
- Strong understanding of design tokens, component architecture, responsive design and accessibility
- Track record turning ambiguous problems into reusable visual solutions
- Experience partnering closely with engineers on implementation
- Strong product thinking across customer needs, business goals and technical constraints
- Excellent communication, storytelling and facilitation skills
- Experience balancing consistency and flexibility in pattern use
- Ability to give and receive feedback and mentor others
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity with incomplete information
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Computer Science or related field
Nice to have
- Experience designing in cybersecurity, compliance, GRC, IT, infrastructure or financial services
- Experience with Figma and familiarity with front-end technologies or design system implementation workflows
