Slack is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to lead its Slack Kit & Accessibility engineering team. The team builds and maintains Slack's UI design system and frontend component library, partnering with design and product engineering across the company on usability, consistency and accessibility.
What you'll do
- Drive Slack's accessibility strategy with product and design counterparts
- Ensure new and existing UX patterns are accessible and usable, including for screen reader and keyboard users
- Own and evolve Slack Kit, Slack's design system and component library
- Set technical direction and facilitate execution for major frontend engineering initiatives such as modernising Slack's CSS architecture
- Develop clear roadmaps and milestones with IC leads for multi-quarter projects
- Provide feedback, coaching and growth opportunities for the team
- Build a sustainable high performing team and supportive work environment
What we're looking for
- 3+ years leading software engineering teams
- Previous experience as a Senior+ Frontend Software Engineer
- Strong verbal and written communication, organisational and time management skills
- Experience hiring, mentoring and leading engineers
- Experience communicating with users, technical teams and product management on requirements and technical designs
- Understanding of where AI software development tooling can be deployed for team impact
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience

- Experience with design systems and/or UI component libraries
- Experience championing needs outside your own lived experience or day-to-day work
