Pebl is hiring a Design Systems Lead to own the design system end-to-end, including the component library, token architecture, documentation and design-to-production workflows across web and mobile surfaces.
What you'll do
- Own the architecture, strategy and evolution of the design system across web and mobile surfaces
- Design and ship production-ready components with well-defined states, variants, interaction models and accessibility
- Partner with frontend engineering to ensure system decisions translate into code
- Create clear documentation and usage guidance including best practices and contribution standards
- Build and maintain governance models balancing system integrity with product team speed
- Conduct regular audits to identify inconsistencies and gaps in component coverage and design-to-code parity
- Lead evaluation and integration of AI-powered design tooling into the system
- Anticipate shifts in product, platform and tooling landscape and evolve the system towards agentic workflows
What we're looking for
- 7+ years of product design experience, 3+ years owning or contributing to a design system
- Outstanding portfolio demonstrating systems-level thinking and component craft at scale
- Extraordinary visual design taste across typography, colour, spacing and interaction
- Expert-level Figma skills including component architecture, variables, tokens and auto-layout
- Comfort working across design-to-code workflow with design tokens, Storybook and GitHub
- Strong understanding of front-end fundamentals including HTML, CSS and React or equivalent
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design practice
- Strong written communication skills for clear documentation
- Track record leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders
Nice to have
- Experience integrating AI tools into design and development workflows
- Background building or contributing to open-source design systems
- Familiarity with design-to-code automation tools and AI-driven workflows
- External thought leadership through writing, speaking or open-source contributions
- Experience in enterprise SaaS, fintech or complex data-dense product environments
