Design System Engineer II role at Optimizely, shaping UI architecture and design decisions across Optimizely products. Works with Engineering, Product, and Design, and leads the Axiom design system.
What you'll do
- Author and maintain UI components that are accessible, performant, scalable, and robust
- Work closely with product designers, product managers, and engineers to implement solutions
- Act as technical leader in developing high quality, well-tested, documented, CI/CD-enabled software
- Serve as advisor for frontend UI to teams and leadership
- Act as liaison between product design/UX and engineering, providing technical guidance and coaching
- Lead best practice discussions on design systems
- Facilitate distribution of ideas and maintain UI consistency across product lines
- Pursue personal growth by maintaining awareness of technology and best practices
- Facilitate special project planning including requirements elicitation, design, and scoping
- Manage own time, work independently and as part of a team
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar, or corresponding education
- 4+ years of experience with modern development practices
- Advanced knowledge of designing and developing with React, Typescript, and SASS
- Experience building and maintaining a performant, responsive design system
- Understanding of building and maintaining large applications and extensible libraries/frameworks/APIs
- Well-versed in PWA and progressive rendering
- Strong familiarity with web accessibility
- Experience with packaging systems (Webpack, Rollup), testing frameworks (Jest, Enzyme), linting tools (ESLint, Prettier), Git, and Storybook
