Opera is hiring a Senior Product Designer to scale design quality across multiple products and teams. The role focuses on design reviews, reusable patterns, and practical guidelines rather than owning a single product area, working closely with designers, engineers, and product teams.
What you'll do
- Run design reviews across products
- Evaluate shipped and upcoming experiences for complexity and inconsistency
- Build scalable design foundations
- Create pattern libraries, UX principles, and guidelines
- Improve key user experiences
- Focus on critical flows, onboarding, and high-impact product areas
- Champion simplicity and clarity
- Challenge unnecessary complexity
- Enable teams to design better
- Provide constructive feedback and run design critiques
- Share practical examples that improve product quality
What we're looking for
- 4+ years of experience in product design
- Portfolio demonstrating strong UX judgment, hierarchy, and interaction design
- Experience creating and maintaining design systems or component libraries
- Experience with UX guidelines or patterns used by other teams
- Ability to evaluate products at a high level
- Ability to give actionable feedback across multiple projects
- Strong understanding of UX principles
- Understanding of interaction states like loading, empty, error, progress
- Clear and collaborative communication style
- Ability to challenge ideas while building strong relationships
