One North is hiring a Senior Product Designer, Design Systems for its multi-disciplinary Design team. The role creates and evolves scalable enterprise design systems that power client product growth, working embedded on client teams and consulting on system solutions.
What you'll do
- Lead creation and evolution of enterprise-grade design systems across products and platforms
- Build and maintain advanced Figma libraries using auto layout, variables, interactive components, tokens
- Leverage existing design systems to accelerate workflows and create specialized libraries when needed
- Ensure Figma workspaces and libraries are optimised, organised and aligned with system architecture
- Partner with engineering to ensure design system parity between design and code
- Audit and refactor components to improve usability, accessibility, performance and consistency
- Prototype and test new patterns or components before integrating into the system
- Create scalable documentation and onboarding materials to support system adoption
- Collaborate with product, engineering and research to meet evolving business and user needs
- Mentor and guide other designers, providing feedback to uphold system quality
- Serve as subject matter expert in client-facing engagements, leading working sessions
- Advocate for design system thinking and contribute to scaling design operations
What we're looking for
- Expert understanding of design fundamentals, design systems and UX fundamentals
- Expert command of Figma advanced features including AutoLayout, Variables, DevMode, Advanced Prototyping
- Curiosity around Figma AI features such as Make and MCP Server
- Experience with design system tools such as Zeroheight, Knapsack, Tokens Studio, Gradial
- Interest in integrating AI into product and design system workflows
- Understanding of design systems' interconnectivity with engineering teams
- Ability to adapt designs to various screen sizes and form factors
- Expertise with design implications around WCAG accessibility requirements
- Ability to thrive in a multi-disciplinary environment with design, client services, strategy, technology
- High-quality execution of work across all areas
- Self-starter who pushes the vision for clients
- Passion for digital design and staying current on tech and trends
- Experience working in an Agile process
- 5 or more years of design experience in-house, consultancy or agency
- Strong portfolio including enterprise design system creation and contributions
- Competency in common inquiry methods for UX design
- Exceptional visual design skills including typography, colour, layout
- Advanced skills in Figma
- Understanding of HTML, CSS, JS and responsive design
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Eye for detail and high personal standards
- Dedication to following industry best practices and trends
