Miro is hiring a Staff Design Engineer for its Design Systems team, part of Product Design. The role owns the design system, defining what "great" looks like and encoding that judgment into the AI-native system that generates first-draft UI.
What you'll do
- Hold and push the quality bar forwards, encoding what great design and taste look like
- Identify interaction patterns, hierarchy rules and softer signals that keep AI-generated UI from feeling machine-made
- Work with engineering to get those signals into guardrails that catch violations before ship
- Push token thinking into motion, easing, spatial transitions and multiplayer states like presence and cursors
- Partner with engineering so performance constraints don't flatten the product into something generic
- Build patterns, guidelines and examples for designers and AI-assisted contributors
- Write foundation-level thinking down so it compounds
What we're looking for
- 10+ years of product design experience, ideally in B2B SaaS or AI-focused roles
- 2-3 years operating at Staff / Principal level with proven ownership of complex initiatives
- Comfort in code sufficient to prototype and validate design ideas
- Ability to see and articulate the difference between fine and right
- End-to-end understanding of the product across real user flows
- Track record of influence beyond own output, setting an applicable quality bar
- Craft signals: visual craft, pattern recognition, motion and timing, multiplayer interaction grammar, AI tool fluency
- Systems and governance thinking to articulate contribution rules at scale
