Senior UI/UX Designer becoming the design function for Mirai's Generative AI team. Owns both product design across shipping web and mobile products and the design system, tokens and handoff engineering builds from. Success is measured by how much good design happens without you in the room.
What you'll do
- Design user flows, screens, states and interactions for shipping Generative AI products
- Design empty, loading, error and edge case states, not just the happy path
- Establish and hold the visual language: typography, colour, spacing, layout, iconography, motion
- Prototype where it speeds up a decision
- Find patterns across screens and decide what becomes a token, component or pattern
- Build and maintain the system in Figma to a standard others build from
- Hand engineering exported tokens, CSS/theme configuration and written usage rules
- Version the system, document changes, retire what's unused
- Design AI-specific patterns: chat surfaces, streaming output, agent steps, citations, human review
- Design for uncertainty: latency, partial answers, model error, correction/stop affordances
- Use AI tooling in Figma, Claude Design and the handoff layer
- Package the system as repository-level rules and skills coding agents load
- Review shipped work against designs and fix the system where at fault
- Keep the system non-blocking so no one waits on you to build a screen
What we're looking for
- Eight or more years in UI/UX or product design with real ownership
- Strong visual and interaction design craft and judgment
- Experience turning design work into reusable tokens, components, patterns or libraries
- Comfortable designing across both web and mobile
- Strong Figma skills: variables, component properties, auto layout, libraries
- Comfortable producing handoff artifacts and working into token/CSS layer
- Deliberate use of AI tools in own design work
- Portfolio of work you can walk through and discuss
Nice to have
- Experience designing for AI or agentic products
- Familiarity with design token pipelines such as Style Dictionary or W3C design tokens format
- Front-end ability beyond the token layer
- Accessibility practice: keyboard, focus behaviour, screen reader semantics
- Right-to-left and bilingual interfaces, particularly Arabic and English
- Motion and interaction design, dense or data-heavy interfaces, data visualization
- Usability testing or research to validate design decisions
