Principal Product Designer role on Microsoft's MAI Monetization team, building the foundation the design org ships on. Owns the MAI Monetization Design System (components, tokens, patterns, standards) and the AI-Native Tooling suite, spanning Vibe Kit and Vibe Studio.
What you'll do
- Design, document, and evolve core components and patterns of the design system
- Drive adoption and migration work with engineering partners
- Contribute skills, standards, context files and evals to Vibe Kit
- Expand Vibe Kit adoption beyond design into PM and engineering
- Shape Vibe Studio workflows: prototype, test, and refine intent-to-product flow
- Partner with AI UX engineering to make the system machine-readable
- Set and uphold the quality bar: audit usage
- Critique output and close the gap between spec and shipped
What we're looking for
- Master's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, HCI, UX, Interaction Design or related field plus 6+ years product or service design experience
- Or Bachelor's degree in same fields plus 8+ years product or service design experience
- Or equivalent demonstrated experience in product or service design or design thinking
Nice to have
- Master's degree in relevant field plus 8+ years product or service design experience
- Or Bachelor's degree in relevant field plus 12+ years product or service design experience
- Or equivalent demonstrated experience in product or service design or design thinking
- Hands-on design systems experience: components, tokens, documentation

- Experience with Fluent or other large enterprise design systems
- Experience with React or AI-assisted coding tools
- Background in advertising, B2B, or data-dense tooling
- Experience building internal tools or developer/designer experience products
- Demonstrated interest in AI as a design material, not just a feature
- Portfolio demonstrating systems-level design work
- Solid written communication for standards and documentation
- Ability to prototype in code or with AI-assisted tools

- MAI employees within 50-mile (US) or 25-mile (non-US) commute expected in office at least four days per week from January 26, 2026
