The Plan Design System Coder configures and maintains Group Benefits plan information within administrative and claims systems at Manulife. The role translates plan design requirements from policy applications and amendments into system coding. It also validates system changes and identifies downstream impacts on claims processing.
What you'll do
- Configure routine and complex new plans and amendments within administrative and claims systems
- Translate plan design requirements into system coding and configuration
- Review system-generated reports to confirm changes implemented accurately
- Interpret policy applications and amendments to determine system configuration and downstream impacts
- Determine whether plan requirements fit existing system functionality and escalate exceptions
- Create or maintain special system notes when standard fields are insufficient
- Manage multiple new plan setups, amendments, inquiries and rush requests to meet service targets
- Respond to questions on system configuration, plan coding and administration
- Request or create custom dental and health packages and benefit codes
- Identify opportunities to improve coding accuracy, efficiency and processes
- Maintain high accuracy and attention to detail in system configuration
What we're looking for
- Strong knowledge of Group Benefits plan structures and Client Group Options
- Understanding of downstream impacts of system coding decisions on claims and administration
