ICEYE is hiring a Staff/Lead Product Designer to build its design system from scratch, sitting in Product Management and reporting to the Director of Product Design. The role owns building the Figma library, tokens and coded components, and driving adoption across teams.
What you'll do
- Build a Figma library and playbook, then grow into token architecture and coded components
- Co-design components with frontend engineers in code, reading PRs and prototyping in branches
- Sell the system to product managers, engineers and leadership, run office hours, do migration work
- Set and hold the craft bar across the whole domain at pixel level, in public
- Put AI to work on documentation, variant generation, token maintenance, migration codemods, spec drafting
- Stay accountable for adoption, consistency, shipped UI quality and how quickly teams can build
- Work across a big, networked organisation with other designers, brand, sales engineers and customers
What we're looking for
- Experience taking a design system from 0 to 1 in a messy, unconvinced organisation
- Fluency in reading React and CSS, understanding component APIs, opening PRs
- Ability to influence without authority
- Exceptional craft in layout systems, typography, colour and visual hierarchy
- Real practice using AI to accelerate documentation, variants, tokens or migration
- End-to-end UX ownership of complex professional products, expert in Figma
Nice to have
- Accessibility as a default rather than an audit
- Experience with theming, dark mode, or multi-brand systems
- Data-dense, map-heavy or real-time interfaces
- Public writing or open-source contribution on design systems
- Time in high-stakes or regulated environments
