Staff Product Designer role on HubSpot's Trellis team, the enterprise design system powering CRM, Marketing Hub, Sales Hub, Service Hub, Commerce Hub and Breeze AI. Owns one focus area — tokens and visual language, components, or patterns — shaping how HubSpot builds product at scale.
What you'll do
- Own and evolve a major focus area within Trellis (tokens, components, or patterns)
- Partner with product, engineering, content design, research, and design technology on system guidance
- Make high-judgment system decisions balancing consistency, flexibility, accessibility, and technical constraints
- Reduce fragmentation by creating shared foundations teams can trust and contribute to
- Improve alignment between Figma, documentation, and front-end implementation
- Define documentation and usage guidance for designers, engineers, and AI-assisted tools
- Partner with product teams to understand adoption friction, edge cases, and implementation gaps
- Contribute to governance and contribution models that let Trellis evolve without drift
- Support accessibility, internationalisation, responsive behaviour, and implementation quality
- Collaborate with design technologists and engineers on component APIs, tokens, and tooling
- Hold a high quality bar while building trust across the organisation
- Help Trellis become machine readable to support AI coding tools and generative UI workflows
What we're looking for
- Extensive experience with enterprise design systems or complex multi-product platforms
- Strong spike in tokens, components, patterns, accessibility, documentation, or Figma-to-code alignment
- Deep experience in enterprise SaaS, CRM, developer tools, commerce, or AI-assisted products
- Experience designing reusable components across anatomy, states, variants, and accessibility
- Experience owning visual foundations at scale, including tokens, theming, and typography
- Strong engineering partnership on component APIs, tokens, and implementation fidelity
- Track record improving adoption, contribution models, governance, and team enablement
- Staff-level autonomy setting direction and influencing partners without close oversight
- Strong product craft balancing consistency, flexibility, usability, and implementation reality
- Curiosity and rigor around evolving design systems for AI-assisted product development
- Portfolio showing system-level work, not isolated screens
- Clear communication of system decisions to designers, engineers, and product leaders
