This role sits within the design systems team at Genius AI, owning the vision, execution and governance of the design system as the product scales. It covers component libraries, tokens, accessibility and design-to-dev handoff, with a key part in a company-wide rebrand.
What you'll do
- Own the vision and execution of the design system, defining standards and driving adoption
- Architect and maintain a robust component library with reusable UI components across mobile and web
- Lead development of design tokens, Figma libraries, variables and naming conventions
- Drive the design-to-dev handoff process, partnering with engineering to reduce release friction
- Champion accessibility, quality and craft standards across components and patterns
- Own documentation and governance, making the system easy to adopt and contribute to
- Play a key role in the company-wide rebrand, systematising the new visual language
- Identify and implement tooling efficiencies, including AI-powered workflows
- Mentor and collaborate with other designers, raising the team's craft level
- Influence roadmap and prioritisation for the design systems team
What we're looking for
- 4+ years of product design experience focused on design systems, component libraries or design infrastructure
- Portfolio showing strong UI craft and end-to-end product thinking
- Proven track record of owning and scaling a design system in production
- Expert-level Figma skills: components, variables, auto layout, libraries, prototyping
- Deep systems thinking, spotting patterns and designing for scale and edge cases
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, aligning engineers, PMs and designers
- Ability to articulate and defend design decisions clearly
- Mobile-first design mindset
- Experience with design system pillars: tokens, accessibility, code collaboration, documentation, contribution models
- Passion for empowering small business owners and high empathy for customer needs
