Senior Design Producer on General Motors' Design System Governance team, within the Human Interface Design organisation. Owns governance rituals, operating models, and production workflows connecting Foundations, design system owners, and product teams across vehicle OS, web, and app platforms.
What you'll do
- Lead scalable workflows and governance models improving predictability, velocity, and quality of design delivery
- Own and run design system governance including intake, prioritisation, decision forums, and release communications
- Coordinate component and library releases, track deprecation and migration efforts with system owners
- Identify design-system needs and inconsistencies, synthesise input into problem statements and recommendations
- Drive cross-collaborative production efforts, defining milestones, aligning dependencies, managing integrated backlogs
- Facilitate alignment across partners by preparing materials, leading working sessions, capturing outcomes
- Define and maintain checklists, standards, and logistics for quality and release-readiness activities
- Build and maintain transparent tracking systems such as roadmaps, work boards, and risk logs
- Identify and surface risks, dependencies, and blockers early, driving structured resolution paths
- Shape and champion standardised tools, workflows, and templates for design operations
- Co-create and refine governance and operating rituals such as grooming and release reviews
- Mentor and coach less experienced producers and design partners on production practices
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction, information systems, business, or related field
- 7+ years experience in digital product design operations, production, or program/project management
- Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives delivering digital experiences across web, mobile, or in-vehicle
- Ability to organise complex, multi-team work and maintain robust tracking systems
- Experience designing and facilitating governance and working sessions
- Strong familiarity with modern design and work-tracking tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to operate with high ownership in a hybrid environment, reporting to a GM location
Nice to have
- Experience leading or contributing to a design system or governance model spanning multiple products or brands
- Deep familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design practices
- Prior experience in a senior design operations, producer, or program management role
- Demonstrated success fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration and influencing without direct authority
- Proven track record identifying process and governance gaps and piloting improvements
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and break down complex, cross-portfolio problems
- Evidence of strong character with integrity, accountability, and trust
