Figma is hiring a Design Manager to lead its internal Design Systems and Design Infrastructure team. The role owns foundations, tokens and variables, component libraries, tooling, governance, and shared infrastructure across Figma's product suite. This is a senior people leadership role partnering with Design, Product, and Engineering.
What you'll do
- Lead and grow designers across design systems foundations, tokens, libraries, tooling, governance and adoption
- Set vision and quality bar for how the internal design system evolves
- Partner with Design, Product and Engineering leaders on strategy, resourcing, technical direction and execution
- Bring clarity and momentum to ambiguous, cross-functional work
- Evolve the design systems operating model including governance, contribution paths, critiques, documentation and feedback loops
- Hire, coach, retain and develop the design team
- Represent design systems perspective in broader organisational decisions
What we're looking for
- 4+ years of design management experience with direct people leadership across multiple workstreams
- Track record of hiring, coaching, retaining and developing designers
- Technical fluency with design foundations, tokens, variables, component libraries, internal tooling and system architecture
- Direct experience applying or leading AI-enabled design systems workflows
- Experience evolving an internal design system at scale
- Experience earning trust across a sizable product organisation and driving adoption
- Deep, hands-on Figma expertise
- High agency and end-to-end ownership
- Track record of creating clarity and momentum through organisational change
- Experience connecting coded component systems with design libraries and design-to-code workflows
Nice to have
- Building token pipelines and maintaining synchronisation between design foundations and code
- Creating internal tooling and automation for system maintenance, contribution and adoption
- Track record of building shared platform or infrastructure services other teams depend on
- Leading large-scale system migrations or design-infrastructure transformations across a multi-product organisation
