Principal Product Designer, Design Systems role at TCGplayer, an eBay subsidiary. Sits within the User Experience Design team and owns the shared design system powering marketplace, seller tools, fulfilment and inventory digitisation products. Works across design, engineering and technology to build the design foundation and advance AI-assisted, code-connected workflows.
What you'll do
- Own and evolve the design system across the commerce ecosystem, establishing visual language, interaction patterns and reusable components
- Partner with design and engineering to implement the system consistently across Figma and code
- Define and maintain design standards, governance, documentation and contribution models to scale the system
- Develop and maintain component libraries, design tokens, variables and workflows to improve productivity and fidelity
- Raise the quality bar by evolving visual language, accessibility standards and UX patterns
- Partner with UX and product teams on roadmap initiatives, design sprints and vision work to define new patterns
- Champion AI-assisted design and design-to-code workflows to prepare the system for future development
What we're looking for
- 8+ years in product, UX, visual or experience design
- Significant experience designing and evolving enterprise-scale design systems
- Expertise in design systems architecture including component libraries, tokens, variables and governance
- Exceptional visual and interaction design skills with a strong portfolio
- Familiarity with AI-assisted design and design-to-code workflows
- Experience designing for desktop, responsive web and native mobile
- Deep understanding of how design systems are implemented in code
- Ability to define and evolve design languages and UX standards across products
- Experience establishing new interaction patterns and scaling them organisation-wide
- Strong systems thinking balancing product needs with platform health
- Experience with modern design tooling including Figma component libraries and prototyping
- Outstanding communication and facilitation skills across design, product and engineering
Nice to have
- Experience in eCommerce, marketplaces, seller tools, SaaS, fintech or complex product ecosystems
- Experience implementing AI-assisted design and development workflows including AI-powered prototyping and design-to-code pipelines
- Familiarity with the gaming, hobby or collectibles community, particularly trading card games
