Director, Design Systems leads the team building and evolving eBay's design system, sitting within eBay's Design organisation. Partnering with the Principal, Design Systems, the role owns team-building, talent and delivery environment to execute the design systems vision at scale.
What you'll do
- Build and lead a high-performing design systems team
- Coach and develop team members at every level and expertise
- Shape the team for the future, identifying needed skills, roles and capabilities
- Turn strategy into execution by translating vision into team priorities and outcomes
- Raise the bar for craft and quality through design direction and critique
- Strengthen partnership across design, product and engineering
- Improve team effectiveness by evolving ways of working, capacity and resource allocation
What we're looking for
- 15+ years leading and developing design teams
- Track record of hiring, coaching and growing designers, including senior talent
- Deep understanding of design systems and product design
- Experience shaping team structure, capabilities and talent
- Strong people leadership skills creating clarity, accountability and trust
- Proven ability to partner across design, product and engineering in matrixed organisations
- Strong judgment and communication skills to navigate ambiguity
