Senior Product Designer, Design Systems at DuckDuckGo, the first in this role. Owns the design system across platforms and products like Duck.ai and Search, defining both the role and its roadmap.
What you'll do
- Take ownership of the design system at a pivotal moment
- Audit the existing design system
- Lead projects that move the system forward across platforms and products
- Shape how the system is managed and scaled as the company grows
- Lead highly impactful projects that scale across millions of users
- Collaborate with team members at all levels to pioneer new solutions
- Assess vague problems and propose high-impact solutions
- Execute solutions against a set of success criteria
- Voice opinions on all product-related design decisions, large or small
What we're looking for
- 7+ years of experience in product or design systems roles
- 2+ years in senior-level design positions at significant global consumer brands
- Track record of building and scaling complex, established systems
- Ability to lead the future of the design system from audit to rollout
- Ability to communicate recommendations with clear documentation and success metrics
- Knack for creating frameworks (tokens, libraries) that scale across platforms
- Deep knowledge of design tools such as Figma
- Experience bridging design and engineering practices
- Experience creating shared nomenclature and workflows across tools and platforms
- Accustomed to applying agentic and AI-driven solutions in design system workflows
- Enjoyment of pushing creative limits and delivering delight, craft and quality
- Ability to communicate recommendations with high-quality mockups and prototypes
- Skills to manage ambiguity and propose innovative, metrics-focused solutions
- Ability to take initiative and carry ideas forward with urgency and discretion
Good to know
- Must attend meetings on camera via video conferencing
- Expect to travel at least twice a year for all-hands and team retreat (4-5 days each)
- Flexible work arrangement with no core hours, averaging 40 hours per week
